The first assignment was to create a level and scenario using only the primitive geometry available by default in Unity’s level editor. My decision was to create something very simple. I call this game…
You Have To Stab The Dragon
Inspiration was obviously taken from You Have To Burn The Rope, with a little bit of Shadow of the Colossus thrown in.
The game can be downloaded here. Don’t continue reading if you don’t want the game spoiled for you.
You are Elmore the Peasant, and your village is threatened by an angry dragon. In order to save your friends and family, you have picked up a sheep and an old sword and lured the dragon to an ancient ruin known as Wizard’s Stairwell.
You must ascend the stairwell while dodging the dragon’s fireballs in order to climb upon its back. Once you reach the dragon, your goal is to reach its head.
Once you reach the head, You Have To Stab The Dragon.
I’m generally against the idea of platforming in 1st person due to the lack of perception of where your feet are, but the default 3rd person controller that ships with unity is so awful to control that I felt that platforming in 1st person could only be an improvement.
