This week’s assignment is to create a game mechanic centering around unconventional movement. My game is called “Spatial Fling” and the main mechanic is the ability to launch “tele spheres” and teleport yourself to wherever they land.
To play, hold down the left mouse button to charge up a launch, and then release to launch the tele sphere. The meter at the bottom left of the screen will indicate how strong the launch will be. Your character lobs the sphere in an overhead arc, so keep that in mind when trying to get the sphere where you want it. Once a sphere is in play, you can push the right mouse button to teleport yourself to wherever it is. Mac users can instead push T to teleport to the sphere.
Scattered throughout the level are green checkpoints. If you push R, you’ll be teleported back to the last checkpoint you touched. Use this to save yourself if you fall off the tower and don’t want to make your way back to where you were.
There are also tractor beams in the level which will launch your tele sphere in the direction they’re pointing. Use these to access areas you couldn’t normally reach by throwing.
The object of the game is to reach the beacon at the top of the tower. Good luck!
